what we do
programs and services

Independent Living Program
We provide safe housing, medical care, education, and other services to pregnant, parenting, and young women in foster care. Our services help them continue their education and prepare for adulthood while receiving 24-hour care and staff supervision within a community-based, residential setting. They will attend school or work in the community, participate in after-school activities, receive career development support, and learn independent living skills in order to support them in their journey to self-sufficiency.

Housing Support
We provide housing assistance and individualized home-based services to homeless families, helping them accomplish their goals and achieve financial independence. Our housing first model allows families the safety to get out of survival mode and put their energy and efforts into achieving their goals. Supportive housing includes rental assistance and a dedicated advocate to help families with employment opportunities, landlord-tenant issues, parenting, and co-parenting support, and referrals to other community resources.

Testimonials
“I became a student at Florence Crittenton Day Program in August of 1988 at the tender age of 14. The staff at Florence Crittenton and supportive family members made my transition into motherhood as smooth as could be expected at such a young age.”

Tamara V.
“I personally decided to choose Florence Crittenton Programs to give back, because I was a participant of the program in 2010. For me to be sitting in front of their building 6 years later about to walk in and make a donation to help other single mothers makes my heart smile big time.”

Sandra B.
“If anyone ever asked me what Florence Crittenton of Charleston, SC means to me I honestly could answer saying it has changed my life for the better.”
