Florence Crittenton Programs of South Carolina, the state’s only home for pregnant and parenting teens and girls in foster care, has named Katie Bendon as Communications and Stewardship Director. In the newly created position, Bendon will provide support in the highly specialized area of donor communications to share the impact of philanthropy on Florence Crittenton’s mission.

“For more than 125 years, Florence Crittenton’s education, health, parenting, and housing programs have built strong families, healthy teens, and self-sufficient young adults. The needs of young women in our state are changing and we need to be positioned to meet those needs,” said Ashley Redmond, Florence Crittenton’s Vice President of Development and Communications. “We are excited to have Katie join our team. She is an enthusiastic advocate with a proven track record of creating and communicating successful donor campaigns that will help us grow to better support young women throughout South Carolina.”

Katie joins Florence Crittenton from Carolina Youth Development Center where she served as the Director of Annual Giving and Communications. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Katie has 7 years of nonprofit development experience and has had the opportunity to work for nationally recognized organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters and Make-A-Wish.

“I am excited to be a part of a local organization like Florence Crittenton Programs of SC. The mission is inspiring and the organization is doing great things in the community. I look forward to playing a role in helping to provide hope, safety, and opportunity for young women,” said Bendon.

Located in downtown Charleston, SC, Florence Crittenton Programs of South Carolina has been serving the entire state of South Carolina since 1897. Florence Crittenton’s mission is to provide hope, safety, and opportunity to young women in order to instill self-worth and self-sufficiency.
